Which Halloween candy represents your dating style?

Written by Jailynn Taylor

Are you sweet as a button or a bit on the nutty side when it comes to dating? This article will tell you what your signature Halloween candy should be based on your dating style.

Do you play hard to get?

Then you have a Sour Patch Kid dating style. Move with caution. You are known to hurt feelings and break hearts.

You were the kid in grade school that everyone’s parents would say, “Since they’re mean to you, they must have a crush on you!” You never really grew out of that phase.

So, your romantic interests might feel like they’re being chewed up and spit out, but it’s just the way you protect yourself from being hurt. Once you feel safe and comfortable with someone, you soften up and they can see your sweet side.

Are you a traditionalist in love?

You have a Hershey’s bar dating style. You’re pretty easygoing but very old-school when it comes to dating. Think 1950s romance novels.

You want to be courted appropriately and taken out on a proper first date. Maybe dinner and a movie. Then your date walks you back up to your doorstep where you fiddle around awkwardly with your keys, ultimately leaving them standing there kissless because you don’t believe in kissing on the first date ... or the second one.

Do you live perpetually in the talking stage?

Slow and steady is the way to lollipop dating styles’ hearts.

You like the process of getting to know someone. Your partner may find themselves trying to peel back your layers date after date, but the issue is that you will date someone for six months but still aren’t ready to commit. Your excuse is that you still “don’t know them.”

Lick by lick, they think they are getting to the center of who you are when, in reality, you are dissolving away. You hide behind the talking stage because you actually have commitment issues.

Do you struggle to secure the relationship?

If you don’t know a thing about love or relationships, you probably have the Butterfinger dating style.

Your friends may call you clueless because you don’t have the best luck when it comes to choosing eligible partners.

You may constantly find yourself as the other woman unknowingly or ghosted because they just weren’t that into you. But you are resilient in your pursuit of true love. You may fall (a lot), but you dust yourself off and keep going. We’re all rooting for you!

Is it a hit or miss with you?

If when you go on dates you either find it’s a hard yes and you fall madly in love, or you leave within the first two minutes in disgust, you may have a candy corn dating style.

You have very strong views or opinions or a dominating personality, not for the faint of heart. You find you aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but you also aren’t willing to water yourself down to be more palatable.

Take them as they are, or watch them as they leave.

Are you a man-eater?

“Watch out, boy, she’ll chew you up” plays softly in the background. You have a York Mint Patty dating style.

When dating you, it’s a predator versus prey situation, and you always come out on top. You lure them in with your charm and good looks and break them from the inside out.

You have a trophy of broken hearts on your shelf, and you treat your partners (if you even recognize them as partners) as disposable objects. You feel no remorse, and it’s onto the next victim.

All those that have crossed your path wonder who left you so cold.

Do your exes describe you as crazy?

If so, you may have a Laffy Taffy dating style.

You come off as sweet as a button in the beginning, and no one sees it coming, but then they get caught all in the sticky taffy that is your web and it takes forever to escape.

You can be obsessive, borderline stalkerish. Some find the crazy alluring, but things get tricky when the games aren’t fun anymore.

Have you already planned the wedding and haven’t even gone on the first date?

If you have already curated your dream wedding vision board for this person whom you don’t even know their last name, you may have a Smarties dating style.

You probably let your anxiety and your need for control get the best of you before all your dates. You go on a date and realize you don’t like them at all, or they are a chill person and that date goes smooth, but you got yourself all wound up for nothing.

You are strategic in how you plan out every component of your relationships when you should just relax and go with the flow. Breathe! Not everything has to be so strategic.

We all have different tastes in how we go about the journey there. Whether you are a dangerous York Patty or a traditional Hershey’s bar, we all have the same end goal: to find and secure that special someone.
