Cozy blankets, decorative pillows and duvets

Try a bedroom revamp that feels as warm and cozy as your favorite fall time drink.

Swap out your lighter throw for a chunkier knit blanket in neutral tones. But don’t just stop there. Switch out your duvet and throw pillows for a more textured option that’s puckered, slubbed or linen-handed and in warmer hues like gold or terracotta.

Don’t forget about your sheets. Try a warm rust for a pop of color, or a stripe to add more dimension.

These fall bedroom updates will have you bundled up in bed indefinitely.

Scented and decorative candles

Hit up your local candle shop to find out what the new fall scents are for the year. You can expect them to be warm in note with spiced accents.

Try scents that make you feel nostalgic for the season, such as marshmallow fireside, apple cinnamon or the wide variety of pumpkin pairings. It should feel like a warm hug to your nose when they are burning.

The switch over to fall marketing will also give your space an autumn-themed appearance.

Also, try out decorative candles. They add a pop of color to any space while having tons of ornate options for candle holders that will make any space look elevated.

Fall assorted flowers

Bring your space to life with warm florals.

Curate your own custom bouquet with flowers in season for the fall, or ones that get you in the fall spirit. You can pull from a variety of marigolds, chrysanthemum, heuchera, viola, black-eyed susan and purple fountain grass.

Don’t feel you have to buy the real thing. You can always hit up your local home or art supplies store and pick up some faux stems that have the same effect and you can reuse them season after season.

As the seasons begin to change and the weather starts to cool, many flowers and plants begin to die in preparation for the winter, so allow your flowers to dry out and preserve them. They also make for great fall decorations.

Trinkets and knickknacks

Don’t assume seasonal knickknacks and trinkets have to be cheesy. If curated right, a mini ceramic pumpkin in a basket on the kitchen counter can move any space into the season ahead.

This would also make for a great activity with friends. Go to your local pumpkin patch or grocery store and pick up mini pumpkins that you can spray paint or decorate to your liking.

Or try a seasonal wreath — not a Christmas wreath, but a natural wheat wreath or a fall berry wreath to get you in the spirit of the harvest season. These can be hung on the wall or the back of your door.

Fruit bowls

Do you want something that embodies the fall aesthetic but is also practical?

Try out a fruit bowl. Get a decorative ceramic bowl and fill it with in-season fruits like pears and apples. Pick fruits with unique colors and sizes — just make sure they are still fresh.

You can have a mix of apples like granny smith, fuji and honey crisp to add variety in color and taste. Or try a combination of pears like the forelle pear, bosc pear or the Asian pear that vary in color, size and texture.

Fruits make for great decoration but also double to make great snacks or baked recipes.

Seasonal artwork

If you love art and curate your gallery wall with pieces that are fitting for the moment, try swapping some of your pictures for warm-toned landscape portraits or harvest-inspired pieces.

You can source from local artists, create a piece yourself or check out prints you can purchase from museums.

Don’t feel you have to go super traditional fall here. Pick something that feels unique to you and your aesthetic. It shows that you are thoughtful in curating the pieces on your wall, and it can make your gallery feel alive because it’s ever-changing, like you and the seasons.

Fall is a seasonal reset. So refresh your space with bright hues, warm scents and cozy textures to help move you into this new period.
